Paulding County Quilt Block Story The Paulding County RTA was organized on October 31, 1968 in Paulding. The first chapter meeting was a luncheon held on November 13, 1968. The membership had 36 retired teachers and 3 associate members. The first officers were: President Wanda Jenkins, Vice President Norma Simon, Secretary Neola Gordon, and Treasurer Clara Gorrell.
The original members gathered from the individual school districts of Antwerp, Blue Creed, Grover Hill, Oakwood, Paulding Exempted Village Schools, and Payne. These districts are now combined into the three districts of Antwerp Local Schools, Paulding Exempted Village Schools, and Wayne Trace Local Schools.
The Paulding Co. RTA is a small, but ambitious organization which exemplifies the high standards of the teaching profession. Its purpose is to educate its members about current legislative proposals and their impact on education today, as well as events impacting all retired Americans. Its 2007 officers were: Co-Presidents Nancy Brown and Mary Derck, Vice President Martin Harmon, Secretary Marcia Pressler, and Treasurer Bill Fast.
